CITY OF ROCHESTER UPDATES
Rochester Police Department (RPD) - Officer Blanchard
On September 4th, a traffic detail on Lake Ave. handed out 42 tickets in 2-1/2 hours; 25 for speeding. 95% of tickets were issued for speeds over 55 mph.
17 officers retired as of January 1st. 30 total will be retiring this year. The RPD is offering their test twice this year to increase their workforce. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the RPD.
The PCIC zoom meeting will be held on 09/24 at 7 pm.
Sandra Dougherty, a resident of Seascape Dr., shared a recent incident that occurred at her residence on Seascape Dr. on Thursday, August 14th. A resident from the group home on Cloverdale ran onto her patio from Beach Ave. and began to physically and verbally assault her. She was hurling items at her windows and yelling threats at her and her husband who came out to help. Her caregiver was there and a supervisor from the home drove over but neither were able to deescalate the situation. 911 was called multiple times but it took over 2 hrs. for officers to respond. The woman was placed under mental hygiene arrest. Sandra stated concerns about the response time from RPD and lack of follow up response from management at the group home. Officer Blanchard agreed to follow up on the situation and asked her to contact him at 428-7615. As a Seascape resident and friend of Sandra’s, I would just like to thank the two officers who handled the situation for the great job they did when they arrived and state that since I moved into the Stonehedge community in 2017, prior to this, we have never had any problems with the Catholic Charity home on Cloverdale and consider them very good neighbors.
A resident commented on the fact that there are too many people hanging around the grounds of Holy Cross Church and some parishioners are afraid to leave their cars and walk into church. He also stated that TVs have been stolen from inside the church. Officer Blanchard agreed to follow up with Captain Cornell and hopefully have an officer present on Saturday nights and Sundays.
Rochester Fire Department (RFD) Engine 19- Captain Todd Hodges
No one was present to report from Engine 19.
Northwest Neighborhood Service Center (NSC) - Anna Keller
Anna indicated that Carl Giardino has put up some barriers on Stonewood Rd. To try to protect the landscape.
She met with the owners of Fukon and stated that they are not ready to open the business and have too much work left to do to be able to open soon. She is trying to connect with a Mandarin translator so she can have a conversation with them about requirements that still need to be met.
Anna is waiting for a response from the Mayor’s office regarding Jose’s request for a food truck rodeo at the beach.
In response to a resident’s question, she stated that a single family dwelling is only allowed 3 cars and parking on the grass is a violation.
Any concerns or questions, please contact her office at 428-7620.
City Council NW Representative - Bridget Monroe
Bridgette and Mitch attended the Meet and Greet at School 42 to welcome children back the day before school started. City recreation dept. will be meeting with Principal and Vice Principal to plan some activities for the kids.
Sue Hyde and Tom Bruce also attended to represent CCA and hand out some colorful pencils as prizes for correctly answering a trivia question focused on fun things to do at the beach. The children and their families were greeted by the school staff, received some new back packs and and other goodies and enjoyed a nice, barbecued lunch.
Jose has applied for a ‘right of way’ permit to put beach lights up on Lake Ave. for Holidays.
No one was present to up date us on County’s master plan.
